Slow outlook extensions

Hey everyone,

Our team has issues with the outlook extension, it is extremely slow, and logging and tracking emails take up to 5 seconds (we work remotely so everyone has different internet and computers, the only thing in common is the HubSpot add-in).

Does anyone have an idea how to speed it up and optimize?

Here's how to improve slow Microsoft Outlook performance
Compact the MDaemon Connector Local Cache File.
Perform Regular Housekeeping.
Disable Outlook Add-Ins.
Disable RSS Feeds.
Adjusting the Send/Receive Frequency.
Compact or Repair PST Files.
Keep Windows Up-to-Date.

Slow outlook extensions

Hi @ASelimovic,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

The Outlook Extension is subject to Microsoft's environment, which is why users can experience slowness on their end.

Generally, slowness is a result of the tracking pixel when tracking is enabled. When the extension is loaded with tracking enabled, we insert the tracking pixel at the bottom of the email's body. This moves the cursor to the bottom of the email's body as well.

The Office API does not currently allow developers to return the cursor to its previous position, resulting in slowness. I would recommend disable tracking or use Outlook on the Web.

Here are some steps you can follow that can improve performance:

  • Microsoft steps to follow when Outlook is slow
  • Disable all other add-ins in Outlook and try again to see if there is a conflicting add-in
  • See with your IT team to disable or temporarily pause security programs to see if that's causing the issue
  • Delete Outlook cache following those steps.
  • Make sure your Outlook is up to date. You can use this guide with the steps - Install Office update

I hope these steps help!

Best,

Kristen
