An Outlook or HubSpot update back in November has broken the ability to use Outlook (New) with the HubSpot Sales Extension* after clicking "View in HubSpot" or any app.hubspot.com links in Outlook.
It seems that the HubSpot extension is registering those links to be handled by Outlook (or the extension) instead of allowing them to open in the system browser (based on Outlook/M365 settings). The entire Outlook app/window navigates to HubSpot without any toolbar to click BACK or return to Outlook.
UPDATE: The BACK button on my mouse does return and refresh Outlook, but that requires a mouse with a back/side button. I can't find a workaround with a touchpad on my laptop.
* We're using the modern HubSpot Sales Extension, NOT the legacy COM Add-in, as we've migrated to the new Outlook.
I'm sorry, I thought I was clear that this is NOT related to the deprecated Outlook desktop add-in. I'm very familiar with the announcement and the articles you linked. The steps to reproduce and full explanation are included in the screen cast.

I’ve observed the behavior you mentioned, as well as the workaround. Thank you for sharing it. At this point, I suggest submitting this as a feature request. While the workaround you've provided is helpful, I understand that the ideal solution would be for it to open in a separate page without issues.
