I dont want hubspot to connect with my personal outlook address book

Hi

I have spent half of my day playing around with the outlook integration and eventually had to uninstall the integration and give up.

I have used the integration before and previously ended up with loads of junk in my hubspot database because of the connection with my outlook personal mail.

Earlier, I set my mail up and that connection was not active, so it would only track emails to people in my hubspot database.  I tested this and could not email my partner before I added her to hubspot.

Due to another issue I de-installed the integration and since then I have not been able to figure out how i did that and cant stop the integration.  The only option is to manually select the options to track or not track in every single email.  For those that dont want to connect their personal mail to their business database this just completely defeats the object as inevitably if you are busy like most of us are you will not remember to select these options every time you send an email and as a result end up with junk in your database.

I need to set it up as I did earlier I swear I'm not going mad or imagined it and I didnt do it with GMail which I know enables that functionality.  Can anybody help me set up the integration to achieve the integration purely with my hubspot database without automatically adding everyone I email from outlook.

I am facing the same issue, as are about 50 people on this thread for four years. PLEASE add functionality to the Outlook extension that allows us to choose for which accounts tracking should be enabled. It is unacceptable that personal mails are automatically forwarded to Hubspot and customers need to trust that they are properly deleted.

I dont want hubspot to connect with my personal outlook address book

Hi @ahamaton

I see a couple of solution to your problem.

  • Use of Never Log List: You can add your email as a personal inbox in HubSpot and then add domains/emails that you never want to log in HubSpot in a never log list. You can find all details about it here.
  • Use of HubSpot Forwarding and BCC addresses: In this case, you can create a separate HubSpot inbox. Then you can use forward the email you want to log in HubSpot using HubSpot forwarding address or you can reply to that email keeping HubSpot BCC address in bcc. Both will log your email in HubSpot.

I hope that helps, but I'm open to talk through this further with you!

Thanks,

I really appreciate your response Aditya

However, although I am questioning my sanity here, for now I stand firm in saying i had this working earlier.

I do appreciate the advice but for the never log list solution to work.  I would have to predict every email i will ever send from outlook, thats even more difficult than manually ticking/unticking the tracking / logging boxes in every email

The forwarding / BCC solution just seems to convoluted.  I'm not saying I will write the idea off but my head is full due to work right now and I cant stop to think about whether I like the solution or not.  Either way at the moment the appeal of the tracking logging is marred either by my memory playing tricks on me or there actually not being the functionality to do what would seem to me to be such a simple and obvious thing for people to want.  My business email goes to suppliers for example, why would most people want suppliers in their marketing database / CRM system ?

Thanks again Aditya, I do appreciate the response and hope my response doesn't come across in a way that shows a lack of appreciation

Kind regards

Andrew
