QR Code scanner - standard for Q code creation

lösung

How should I create a QR code to be scanned by the HubSpot Mobile App that will import vCard data into the CRM?

Is there a standard for doing this? Is there a HubSpot support article for how to structure the data?

I've only used QR codes for URLs before, I've not stored structured data in them, such as a vCard.

Thanks

Sorry, so the QR code scanner is live - the abilty to import vcards is not, I don't think!

There are a few third-party apps out there that can turn vcard information into a QR code. I've used this one a few times: https://www.qr-code-generator.com/solutions/vcard-qr-code/

You don’t need a HubSpot‐specific “flavor” of QR code – the HubSpot Mobile App simply recognizes standard vCard‐formatted QR codes and maps the fields into its contact creator. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Use the vCard text format
Encode your contact exactly like this (RFC 6350/vCard 3.0 style):

    BEGIN:VCARD
    VERSION:3.0
    N:Doe;John;;; # Last name;First name
    FN:John Doe # Formatted name
    ORG:Acme Corp. # Company
    TITLE:Sales Manager # Job title
    TEL;TYPE=CELL:+15551234567
    EMAIL:john.doe@example.com
    ADR;TYPE=WORK:;;123 Main St;Anytown;CA;12345;USA
    URL:https://acme.example.com
    END:VCARD

You can include whatever fields you need (e.g. FAX, PHOTO, NOTE) but keep the BEGIN/END wrapper.

  2. Generate the QR code
Paste that block of text into your favorite QR‑code generator (e.g. qr‑generator.org, ZXing, or any library). The output is a plain QR code that, when scanned, yields the vCard text.

  3. Scan in HubSpot Mobile

    • In the HubSpot iOS or Android app, tap Create → Scan card or QR code → Scan QR code.

    • The app will parse any vCard fields it recognizes (First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Website, etc.), show you a final “review and edit” screen, and then let you Save the new contact (knowledge.hubspot.com, community.hubspot.com).

  4. No “secret” HubSpot spec
There isn’t a published HubSpot Support article on vCard structure for QR codes – you simply follow the industry standard. Once the vCard data scans correctly in a generic reader, HubSpot will pick it up and map the fields for you.

Tip: Always test your generated code with a generic vCard‑capable scanner (e.g. the built‑in iOS Camera app) before rolling it out, to confirm all fields are encoded correctly. https://snapseedqrcodess.net

Hi @HFisher7 !

Ah, I thought this was live after finding this post by a HS moderator here. If you search the post for "QR code" it reads as though this is live. Perhaps I have the wrong end of the stick and many of these items are announcements and in the pipeline for 2024 and beyond?

Cheers
