updating hubspot contacts when someone unsbscribes through mailchimp

Our organization is perfectly content with a 2000/mo email limit most of the time, but for a few times a year when we are updating all our followers with some organizational newsletters. The mailchimp integration should handle this just fine, however, I want to make sure that if someone unsubscribes from the mailchimp newsletter, we maintain their wishes within our hubspot records. 

I found one previous post about this from several years ago and wanted to clarify. If someone unsubscribes on mailchimp, do I need to manually update their subcription choices in hubspot?

Thank you for reaching out. 

It's not directly possible, what we usually recommend to do is to export your contacts from Mailchimp into a filtered spreadsheet file that contains only unsubscribed addresses, then import that file into HubSpot as an opt-out list as described more in this article: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/import-an-opt-out-list.
This will automatically unsubscribe those email addresses in HubSpot.
