Is there a way to add a contact to a Salesforce campaign and/or update their member status in that campaign without using workflows? If we use a workflow for every campaign, we're going to max out our available number of workflows.

Thanks for that, but this is exactly what I don't want to do. I don't want to have to create a workflow for every single email I send out to flag in SFDC whether its been opened or clicked through. HubSpot tracks opens and clicks, so was wonder if it could auto pass through to the campaign in SFDC without a workflow.
Looks like there is no functionality for this, but would be great if it was built in somehow.

100% agree! There needs to be a proper integration between the Salesforce campaign object. Unfortunately HubSpot is likely focused on developing it's own CRM intead of optimising functionality with the market leader.
I'm using a standalong workflow for now but what a pain.. you also have to be so careful of the order that you use as well to make sure the right campaign member status is set. Very tedious.
In Marketo, this is a non-issue, it's automatic... you can even create a Salesforce campaign directly from Marketo. #MissingMarketo
