HS + Segment - Unique Company Identifier filed

Hey there,

We are currently using the Segment integration with HubSpot. Regarding the "Upsert company" mapping in the connector documentation, it is mentioned that Segment sends a Unique Company Identifier as a custom property to HubSpot. However, despite searching, I can't seem to find this property in HubSpot. Has anyone else experienced this issue and could provide some advice on how to locate it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More context: I need to sync the companies with our database, and this identifier seems to be the only way to link the data together.

Hi there! Not sure if you're still experiencing this issue, but we had the same problem and Segment support was able to un-hide the property from our view. We can now access it. I'd recommend reaching out to them and asking them to do the same!

As a workaround, I suggest adding a new property in HS and syncing it with your group id from the mapping tab on your segment destination page.

Have you synced data already? I know some integrations, like Neverbounce, only create those custom properties the first time a sync is triggered. I've had a similar issue looking for Neverbounce properties which didn't show until I did a first sync of data.

Thanks for reply @franksteiner79. I guess the data is syncing because I can see all the contacts and companies activites and also Segment changes the lifecycle stages. Do you think this custom property can be hidden somehow or should be visible in the Settings -> Properties screen?

Hi @mchuchro - I see. Not sure if the name of the property has changed.

Normally, you can see an integration source by checking the original source and original source drilldown properties. 

My best sugesstion would be to pick a record you are sure has been created/enriched by Segment, go to view all properties, check the "hide empty properties" and then do a screen search for "Segment".

Hey @franksteiner79 - I did this but unfortunately without luck.

I learned interesting fact, this property is visible when fetch from HS API. Do you know is it possible to reveal it in HS frontend?

I was searching for that field as well, but it's not visible in the UI. What @franksteiner79 was suggesting would be to see in the history of a particular property whether it was populated by Segment.

What we've done instead is to set a property on the company that requires a unique value. Then use the custom mappings in the group call to send the value to your Hubspot field. Hopefully you can use your custom field to sync to your database.
