Does the sync create duplicate records in Salesforce

SOLVE

We are trying to integrate Hubspot with Salesforce. Since there are pre-existing data in both systems, before integrating we are planning to do a one-time data upload to keep both systems with each other's data (Hubspot contact to Salesforce Lead and vice versa). After the data upload, we will integrate the systems.

My real concern is when a field or property value of a record(contact in hubspot or lead in salesforce) is updated does it update the other system's corresponding record or does it create a new data record which makes the new data record as duplicate one?.

Does the sync create duplicate records in Salesforce

Assuming a true 2-way sync and not something based on a contact list, the sync will be triggered when the data is updated.  Having done this before - first, if the data from Hubspot should be in Salesforce, move it there first, especially for contacts that don't exist.  Then bulk export everything from Salesforce into Hubspot.  This should be an easier mapping because there will typically be more fields in the CRM than the automation platform because it does more.

As to the duplicates, none should be created in the default setup. If you are worried, the default Salesforce integration has fields fo raccount/contact/lead id so you can import that to the record.  But the matching would be done on email address and then subsequent updates will be triggered when an record updates on either platform (depending on your setup).
