Creating Contact List of Salesforce Account Primary Contacts

SOLVE

Looking for tips on how to email people identified in Salesforce as the Account Primary Contact. In Salesforce, this field is dynamic which creates an issue when syncing to HubSpot as HS wants the list to be a dropdown. I ended up syncing the Primary Contact Email from Salesforce into HS as a single line of text.

The issue is that I can't create a Contact List in HS with a Company Property. I can create a Company List with no issues, but I can't email a Company List.

How can I take a Company List that shows the Primary Contact Email and create a Contact List? I only want to email the Primary Contact.

@ATeall

The issue with this is that you have the property "Primary Contact Email" on the company, so when you're filtering for it in a company list it still isn't specifying which contact.

What you should try instead is create a single checkbox property on the contact called "Primary Contact", for all your primary contacts, mark this as "Yes". Then you can just create one contact list like this:

You can specify your own custom properties for Type like you had before, and that should give you the list you're looking for.

This should work fine assuming that all of your contacts are only associated to one company, if you have any contacts associated to multiple companies you may want to look at using association labels like I mentioned before. But that's a bit more complicated to set up. See if this works and if not I'm happy to try and help further.

Thanks,

Ben

Thanks for the responses, but this does not work. This brings in every contact at the company rather than the primary contact.

Hi @ATeall do you mind sharing a screenshot of the list you created and I can have a look as to why it may not have worked.

Here is the Company List, with 872 companies.

Here is the Company List used as a filter in a Contact List, which pulls in 18,382 contacts.

And same result with Primary Contact Email known

Hi @ATeall ,

Since you are on enterprise you should also be able to set association labels. You can create a Contact-to-Company association called "Primary Contact". You can find instructions on creating association labels here

Once you have the association label created, you can import your contacts associating them to the respective companies and add the association labels as well. There's instruction on how to do that here.

From there, you can create an active contact list that filters on the Company object. If you want to include all your companies you can just filter Company name "is known", otherwise add other filters as needed. The list should look like this:

From here just change "Any company" to "With label: Primary Contact" and from there you should have your list! Please let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks,

Ben

Hello @ATeall! I think this might be what you are looking for.

I made a Company List with some criteria and saved it as my test list. Then made this other list based on Contacts with associated Companies on the list.
