Using Company List membership as Contact Filter for List Building
SOLVE
I need the ability to create CONTACT lists based off of Company list membership.
USE CASE: We have a list of comapnies in a particular buying group (we don't want to create new properties for every buying group membership, so we went with LISTS); however, when I go to try and make a list of CONTACTS within this buying group (based on their company association), I can't.
In summary, I'd like to be able to create a company list, then build a CONTACT list from companies ON that list.

Generally, you should be able to re-create the company property filters of your company list as company property filters in your contact list. It's an added step but should solve the issue:

@ADaria this thread and my reply are almost three years old, this has been possible for a while. Just add a filter, change the 'Filtering on' dropdown to companies and you can access list membership:

Thanks Karsten - the one thing you don't mention (but assume your reader knows) is that this is done by creating a HubSpot report, not a view in the contacts nor in creating a new list. Or at least that's how I figured out how to do it after the other two options didn't work for me.
A report is not necessarily required. If you want all contacts associated with companies from a specific list and that list filters for specific company types, for example, you can as well create a contact list of contacts who are associated with companies of those types. This can be done directly in a list.
For more complex filters, this might not be possible anymore but generally it should be.

You can upvote the idea here. This way it will have more chances to be implemented in the future 🙂

The use case where this does not work, is if there are specific companies that one wants to manually exclude based on sales rep preference etc. The ideal workflow there would be :
Create Company List with Filters as Static List
Manually remove companies from lists that you do not want to contact for a given campaign
Filter contacts who are associated with companies on the static company list.
This would be very helpful where reps want to exclude certain companies based on personal preference, history, etc.
