Uploading excel companies to a list using web domain, existing contacts

SOLVE

Hi, I have an excel document from a third party data provider with company names and their respective web domains. These companies already exists in hubspot.

However, I'd like to be able to upload the excel, and have HubSpot match the web domains with the companies already in HubSpot, then create a list with the companies from the original excel.

I would like to avoid the manual process of creating a list by indivually adding the domains.

So, is it possible to upload company domains from an excel, that already exist in hubspot, and automatically load them into a list?

Thanks

Hi @aignatov,

Yes, this can be done. Let's assume for a moment that you already imported the companies.

Your first step would be to create an empty static company list. Once you have such a list, you can navigate to the company index page (Menu > Contacts > Companies) and click All filters (above the table) where you can select Import. Using the dropdown, you can now ask HubSpot to show you all companies which were part of an import.

As a next step, you can select all companies by using the top left checkbox (make sure to pay attention to the small blue notice asking you whether you'd like to select company records on following pages), and click Add to static list to add them to the list you just created.

This is how you'd add an import to a list.

Now, going back to the import. When you import companies, it's important that the Company domain name is included as a column in your import file. Without this, HubSpot will not deduplicate records during import and simply create new companies, even if they have the same name.

Alternatively, the file has to include the record ID column. (The record ID is included in all HubSpot exports. You could export all companies first, then compare the two files and using VLOOKUP for the record ID, import the ones who are in both.)

Hope this helps!
