Triggering Emails Based On Landing Page Link Clicks

SOLVE

My company has set up a Free Materials page with different types of PDFs and videos that can be downloaded. Each file has been uploaded to HubSpot so the links being used are HubSpot links. The end goal is for visitors to receive an automated email based on what they clicked on. I believe this can be done by creating CTA buttons for each piece of material, but I am trying to avoid doing that. I am hoping to create a workflow that filters down to only people who have viewed X, Y, and Z HubSpot files. Thank you in advance!

Triggering Emails Based On Landing Page Link Clicks

SOLVE

Hi @RBarrett0

I've had a quick look and based on the following articles - Analytics for FilesTracking PDF data, and this idea forum post - tracking of PDFs in the file manager isn't possible and development has been put on hold.

So the best option would be the CTA route. Worth keeping in mind that you can create image CTAs and re-use them in multiple locations, so it wouldn't be one-off work.

I hope that helps.

Frank

Hi @RBarrett0

You are right that this can be done via CTAs and in my view this is a perfect use case for CTAs.

What's the thinking/reasoning behind you saying "by creating CTA buttons for each piece of material, but I am trying to avoid doing that".

Once you have the CTAs and start tracking interactions, you can combine "has seen" or "has clicked" rules and combine a series of assets a contact needs to have seen. One caveat to all of this, how are people getting to the assets - organic search, email marketing, ads? At some stage you'll need to convert the visitors in order to tie the CTA clicks to a contact.

I hope that helps.

Hi Frank, thank you! People will reach the page by entering their email on our website. We'll then email them a link to the landing page. The thinking behind avoiding CTAs is mainly implementation. We have 9 of these pages designed. We'd need to adjust the page layout and create 81 CTAs. It's definitely doable, but before embarking on that, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a way to gain the bennefits that you mentioned based only on someone viewing a HuBSpot files.

Triggering Emails Based On Landing Page Link Clicks

SOLVE

Hey @RBarrett0, In order to triggering Emails Based On Landing Page Link Clicks, there are a few ways you can approach this. The first option is to create a set of contact properties in HubSpot that correspond to each file. Then, you can create a workflow that tracks when a contact visits the page with the files and registers the associated property. If the contact has viewed all three files, you can then trigger an automated email.

Another option would be to send an email to each contact after they have viewed a certain number of files. For example, you could set it up so that after a contact has viewed two files, they receive an automated email asking them to view the third file. This would require you to track which files each contact has viewed, but it is possible.

However, you could also use a combination of both approaches. You could set up a workflow that tracks which files each contact has viewed and then sends an automated email after they have viewed a certain number of files. This way, you could also track which files each contact has viewed, while also providing an automated email to guide them to the remaining files.

If you're looking for a more automated solution, you could also look into using a third-party tool like MakeWebBetter to automatically send out emails based on a contact's interactions with your website. This could be set up to send a contact an email when they view a certain page or download a certain file.

Hope this helps!
