I know if my sales team are sending a sequence the contact doesn't need to be enrolled as a marketing contact, but if there is a workflow behind the sequence, do they need to be marketing contacts?
Only if that workflow has actions related to marketing email sends or ads. Does it?
Otherwise, workflow enrollment in itself doesn't require a contact to be a marketing contact. However, for example, marketing email sends would not execute for non-marketing contacts.

Thank you! No it's a sales communication, they're in the funnel and it's part of the cycle. Once they drop out of the funnel the comms stop. Good to know, thank you!
