Reporting on time from contact's first response to Closed Won

SOLVE

Hi!

I have a task to create a report that will show how much time has passed between contact's first communication to us (answer to an email, attending a webinar, an event, etc) and a successfully closed deal for this contact. How do I achieve this? I've created a custom property "First Communication Date" to populate with the workflow, but how do I create such a workflow? Which triggers should I choose? Thanks!

SOLVE

I would copy that First Communication Date property to the Deal when it is created so you can measure from the first communication date through to the end of the Deal. If you have multiple buyers/contacts attached to your Deal, it might even make sense to copy to the Company first, if a value does not exist, and then pass it to the Deal. Otherwise you could risk overwriting the value if a contact joins the Deal stream at a later point in time.
