How do I create and view (monitor) different sources of enquiries?

SOLVE

Hi,

I want to be able to monitor where new contacts come from.

I would have assumed that when creating a new customer, I could manually enter where the source of this customer / lead was from?

Reccomendation / Trade Show / Freinds and Family etc.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

Hey @danielgordon are you using both the HubSpot CRM and Marketing platform?

This article suggests using list filters to identify the source of a contact. For creating the list, the two list filters to use are: Original Source Drill-Down 1 and Original Source Drill-Down 2. Older HubSpot accounts may see the terms as Original Source Data 1 and Original Source Data 2.

Original Source Drill-Down 1 and Original Source Drill-Down 2 are two analytics properties included on every HubSpot Contact record. These properties store further information on the source of the Contact's first visit and their values vary depending on the Original Source Type property. Listed below are the definitions for these two properties for each source:

Original Source TypeOriginal Source Drill-Down 1Original Source Drill-Down 2
Organic SearchSearch term (if available)Search Engine site
ReferralsReferring website domainReferring website URL
Social MediaSocial Media siteCampaign Name
Email MarketingCampaign NameHubSpot Email Name
Paid SearchCampaign NameSearch term (if available)
Paid SocialSocial Media siteCampaign Name
Direct TrafficN/AN/A
Other CampaignsCampaign Name

Source / Medium

Offline Sources

Offline channel/tool/platform
(examples: IMPORT, SALES,
API, BATCH_UPDATE,

CONTACTS_WEB, SALESFORCE)

Specific offline medium
(examples: BCC_TO_CRM, CRM_UI, salesforce-createdby)

If you want to record the Offline Source, i.e. trade show, you will need to create a custom contact property.

Thanks for that.

I am new to this.

I would have thought that when creating a contact (which is the first point of entry for a potential customer for us) we could then assign where this lead came from.

That is what I am trying to work out.

Thanks for your time.
