How can I exclude contacts from an active workflow?

After a workflow is turned on, there are a number of contacts who met the triggered criteria would be enrolled. How can I exclude some of those contacts from this active workflow?
Thanks for your suggestions. However, in the 2nd option, I see there are up to 20 contacts that can be added to the suppression lists (as below image). So I have several cases needed to solve:
- What happened if I add contacts to the suppression lists & turn the setting on, and then after it was removed from the workflow (how can I check), I remove those contacts from the list? Moreover, if I turned the re-enrollment setting (from the beginning), are those contacts enrolled in this workflow again?
- How can I remove more than 20 contacts from the workflow quickly?
