Distinguish Contacts From Two Brands

In our customer's account, we manage marketing activities of two of their brands: say brand X and brand Y (under the same account).

 

The leads can come from two different sources: (1) Filling out Forms on landingpages or leadflows or (2) Manual CSV imports. 

 

What is the best practice of distinguishing between these two brands?

 

Should we create a contact property called "Brand" and set this value accordingly in every workflow and mention this column in our imports?

 

P.S. I am not quite sure what the function of managing Companies in Hubspot is and whether it is possible to connect contacts to their brands via that.

I think a property 'Brand' would definitely be advisable. That way you can always segment your contacts into lists and in the reporting when necessary.
