Creating a list that shows engagement behavior in a specific campaign
SOLVE
Hi,
I would like to create a contact list that shows the engagement behavior of contacts within a specific campaign. I understand that there are properties such as:
- Marketing emails clicked
- Marketing emails opened
- Marketing emails replied
However, i believe those properties record a contact's engagement over the course of them being in the platform; not in a specific campaign.
The goal here is to pull a list of those in the campaign & sort it by the engagement metrics. Those who opened two or more times would be sent to sales for follow up. We don't count the first open since it could be considered unintentional.
This can't be achieved at this stage, unfortunately. Marketing emails clicked, Marketing emails opened and Marketing emails replied are counting how many distinct emails a contact engaged with – this is the number of marketing emails, not the number of clicks, opens and replies. At the moment, these properties can also not be broken down by campaign.
If you're looking for the most engaged contacts of a campaign, your best option would be to navigate to the emails of those campaign in HubSpot and scroll down to the Top engaged contacts section. Keep in mind that in general especially the open metric has become very unreliable due to email service providers opening the emails for their users to scan for risks and fraud.
Best regards!

Thank you @karstenkoehler for explaining. There is a piece of your answer I would appreciate further clarification.
"Marketing emails clicked, Marketing emails opened and Marketing emails replied are counting how many distinct emails a contact engaged with – this is the number of marketing emails, not the number of clicks, opens and replies."
Here are some real world examples. These prospects were in a 3 week campaign and sent a total of 6 emails.
#1 has opened 6 distinct emails but neither clicked nor replied to any email so far. The 6 emails might be from the campaign, they might also be from recent months. (3 non-campaign emails opened, 3 campaign emails.) They don't have to be in succession, it's not a "streak".
#2 has opened 5 distinct emails, again, not necessarily the recent 5. Two out of those were clicked, none replied to.
#3 has likely opened all campaign emails but again not necessarily. This contact has, since its creation, opened a total of 7 distinct emails. While they didn't click-through, they replied to two of these emails.
Let me know if you have follow-up questions!
