Create a list of contacts based on their state

SOLVE

I would like to create a list of contacts from our total contacts based on the US state name of the contact. I would like to filter for NC and SC. How would I do that?

Create a list of contacts based on their state

Hi @RSrivastava5,

First, you would have to locate the exact name of the property that contains this information. It could be "State/Region" but you need to confirm.

You can then follow these steps: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/lists/create-active-or-static-lists

Under Menu > Contacts > Lists, create an active contact-based list, then add a filter for "State/Region is equal to any of NC SC". Make sure that NC and SC are actually how the state information was spelled up until now. If the list doesn't populate, the reason could be that the state names are spelled out. To find out whether that's the case, you'll need to do some poking around.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

@RSrivastava5 like @karstenkoehler showed, it's possible with your state/region property. One key to keep in mind: The property is open text, so your states listed could be North Carolina, NC, N.C., N. Carolina, N Car, Morth Carolina (fat fingers, am I right?) .... you see the problem here. If the property were a dropdown menu of states, it would be a simple one click choice.

In your Contacts view where you see allyour contacts, I'd add the state/region column and then see which contacts have any kind of NC or SC designation to see how many variations exist. From there you'll know how many variations you need to accomodate for when making your list.
