Copy the Deal Source
SOLVE
Hello Hubspot Community,
I think i have hit a road block. I am trying to copy the "Deal Source" from a deal that was closed won to another deal that gets created using a workflow due to the closed won. However, the deal that is created on the same contact is not closed won and is pending connection with the contact. Is there a way using the automation/workflows i can copy the deal source from that initial deal to the second deal that gets created? The "Deal Source" is the same custom deal property, just on 2 different deals in 2 different pipelines on the same contact.
Copying a value from one record to another is possible using the 'Edit record' workflow action. You would create a deal-based workflow, then add this action, specify the target field (of the associated deal) and the source value (of the enrolled deal).
However, if you're creating the second deal via workflow, it's easiest to pass on your deal source value directly as part of the 'Create record' workflow action. This would be the most straight-forward way. This is very simple if the deal is created from a deal-based workflow. If it's from a contact-based workflow, you'll have to add the associated deal as a data source:
(When adding a value in the 'Create record' workflow action, you should see the left sidebar expand. Click 'Edit available data' to also pull tokens from not just the contact but add a data source for the associated deal.)
