Contact name does not come up in list under full name but does under first name and last name

SOLVE

Hi there,

 

I'm currently trying to create a contact exclusion list. Within my filters I am creating a Group 1 and filtering by Contact Properties > full name. I'm noticing that some contacts are not being added to the list under this filter but only show on the list once I've added them to a new group and created the filter under Contact properties > first name and Contact properties > last name. Can you please let me know why their names are not showing up under full name filter but are showing under the separate filter of first name and last name?

Hi @MPotter41,

 

'Full name' in lists is not a default property, this was likely created as a custom field by someone in your portal: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties

 

You can check who created this field under property settings: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-and-edit-properties

 

Unless they set up an automation that automatically concatenates first and last name into a full name, this field could simply empty for a lot of contacts. (An automation would require a Professional or Enterprise subscription, using a workflow that enrolls records where first name is known, last name is known, then uses the 'Edit record' workflow action to set the value of 'Full name' to the values of first name, a space character, last name.)

 

In some areas of HubSpot you'll see a default option by HubSpot for full name (e.g. in email personalization tokens). This is then a personalization token for the full name of the contact owner, not the contact itself.
