While all contacts in HubSpot occupy one database, there are lots of ways you can categorise and group contacts using properties and/or lists.
The one that springs to mind is the persona property. Persona is a default HubSpot property which is intended to group contacts in a more usful way that just job title or industry alone. You decide what your personas are so they can be adopted to a wide range of scenarios.
If the persona property does not work for you, you can create your own custom property to store your groups and then use lists to track who's in them.
