We are really new to workflows and need to create a workflow where any incoming lead via a form or marketing list upload (e.g., tradeshows booth visitors) gets auto assigned to our sales manager with the lifecycle stage of lead.
We do NOT want that to happen when a sales person creates a lead contact due to outreach, research, etc.
Is there a way to distinguish in workflows between inbound and manually created contacts?
For reference, we use Sales Enterprise, Marketing Professional, and have no additional connected CRMs like Salesforce.
Yes, this is possible. In workflows, you can enroll contacts based on form submissions – either any submission or specific ones. I drafted a workflow for reference:
The trigger criterion "Contact owner is unknown" makes sure that an existing owner is not overwritten.
Any contacts that are already in the CRM, have an owner and submit a form would keep their current owner. Manually created contacts would not enter this workflow.
Hope this helps!
