AUTOMATION: Update lifecycle status when Sales sends an email to a contact

Hello!

 

I'm hoping to build a workflow that changes the Lifecycle Status from New to Working when an email is sent from a Sales person. Sales emails are captured in Hubspot but I can't figure out how to use that to trigger the workflow update.

Hi @KatyG1,

 

You could use 'Last contacted' (contact property) for this. It includes more means of contact then just emails - but for your purpose, it sounds like that would be suitable.


Last contacted: the last date and time a chat conversation, call, sales email, meeting, or message was logged for the contact. This is set automatically by HubSpot based on the latest date of activities in the record.

 

If you want just emails, this would be an activity, not a contact property. As enrollment criteria in your workflow, choose 'When filter criteria is met', add a filter, then change the filter drop-down from contact to activity. Find activity type, then specify that this activity type should be an email sent to contact.

 

After using either the activity type or last contacted, use the 'Set property value' workflow action.
