Will Google's new Ad Blocker Affect Lead Flows?

resolver

Google released new rules for its Better Ads Standards policy on February 14, 2018, which will block ads ruled as especially "intrusive." These ads include autoplaying video ads that include sound, large sticky ads that take over the lower-third of the screen, and ads that blanket the entire screen and require users sit through a countdown process.

What is HubSpot's response to this in regards to its Lead Flow capabilities? Should Marketers turn these off? If they are kept on, will our sites be negatively impacted?

Will Google's new Ad Blocker Affect Lead Flows?

Hey @mmandel thanks for getting in touch! We on the lead flows team have had this front of mind for some time now! We're going to constantly work on staying on top of these policies so we don't negatively affect the SEO. Google's policies state that a pop-up ad that is over 1/3 of the page will negatively affect the ranking of the site. This will only affect the "pop-up" center ads we have in Lead Flows and we're actively working on improving these.

Our desktop lead flows will not be affected by this and we also won't take up more than 1/3 on the most popular phone screen sizes. However, if you are concerned about particularly small screen sizes you can disable your lead flow on mobile devices through the "options" tab witin your lead flow.

Just wanted to give an update on this. After reviewing the technical specifications, it looks like googles block is only blocking a web page that has 30% ad content and not pop-up ads as has been reported in the past.

Google will also be using list providers that we have worked closely with in the past so potential blocks from here aren't anticipated and if they do arise we will be able to work with the list providers to get these whitelisted too.

If anything else comes up that will affect lead flows, rest assured we'll be ahead of it and working hard to ensure were up to date on the latest seo practices!
