UTM in CTA to Meeting Link

lösung

Hi,

We have a landing page set up with a CTA to our rep's meeting scheduling link.

I want to be able to track the following contact properties for that link/landing page for booked meetings:

  • Campaign of last booking in meetings tool
  • Medium of last booking in meetings tool
  • Source of last booking in meetings tool

I understand from this article that I need to add the UTM to the meeting link (with campaign, medium, and source).

I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't figure out how to add the UTM to that link in the CTA. I don't see an option to edit the link. How do I do that?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Hi @Jenny26 you're welcome! sorry if I misread the question though!

Instead of using the "meeting link" type in the CTA dropdown, just use the external URL to drop in your meeting link URL that has the UTMs already configured:

UTM in CTA to Meeting Link

Hi @Jenny26 there are two ways you can add UTMs to your meeting links, one is through the Tracking URL Builder and the other is manually.

A UTM parameter is just additional information added to the end of the URL, which can technically be added to any URL you create as long as you use the right formatting.

To start, I suggest using the Tracking URL Builder available in HubSpot Settings > Tracking & Analytics > Tracking URLs

When you click the button to Create Tracking URL, you'll get this prompt to add the UTM information:

Here is a link to the knowledge base article with all the details for creating a tracking URL.

The other way you can add UTM is manually.

You can add the UTM parameters following this format:

https://www.yourwebsite.com/page?utm_source=source+name&utm_medium=name+here&utm_campaign=name+here

Here are the steps:

  1. At the end of the URL, start by adding a ? without spaces on either side
  2. then add utm_source=
  3. add the name of your source
  4. add a & symbol without any spaces on either side
  5. then add utm_medium=
  6. add the name of your medium
  7. add another & symbol
  8. then add utm_campaign=
  9. then add your campaign name
  10. you can also add a UTM parameter for "term" as utm_term= or "content" as utm_content=

As long as the link you use to create the CTA has this information, it doesn't matter how you create it, you'll start to see the UTM parameters in your page analytics and the meeting properties you've listed.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your reply!

I didn't explain myself well enough; I understand how to create the UTM and have been using them. I just don't know how to append it specifically to the meeting link as there isn't a way to edit that link when using the CTA (to meeting link) module on a landing page.

You're welcome! I'm glad you could get it working!

It would be nice if the CTA tool had the ability to directly configure UTM for any of the link types, then you wouldn't have to double up the effort or find this little workaround - might be worth adding to the Ideas discussion for the product team to consider! (if you do, share the link back and I'll be happy to upvote)
