we would like it if it were possible to restrict duplicate emails on forms - this is because say should a contact from the same company complete the form under the same email, their details will be overwritten with the new contacts details
if we can have that as an option on forms, that would be great
when they attempt to submit an email which has already been submitted they should be told that has already been submitted - and have to submit a different email
I'm not aware of any out-of-the-box functionality for this. The merging of two email address and the creation of multiple records happen after the submission in HubSpot. HubSpot does not do a real-time lookup in the browser, as far as I know. However, to display such a message, this would be required.

Could you elaborate on what exactly you mean? What should happen when someone submits a form with another email address than the one used before?
In the options tab of the form, you can enable an option "Always create new contact..." – this stops the behavior of HubSpot overwriting existing contacts. Instead, a new contact would be created.
Hope this helps!
