Required fields in new multi-step forms not working?

Hi,

I'm using the new beta multi-step form (awesome, btw), but finding that even though I have poperties on a form page marked as required, clicking the "Next" button takes the user to the subsequent page even if the required form field isn't completed.  See screenshot below

Above, even if yes or no are left unselected, clicking next takes the user to the "Let's connect" page. And same thing with that page, etc, etc. 

The functionality is as fundamental as it comes, so I'm pretty convinced that I'm doing something really daft/wrong.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What work-around have you found to this issue, other than using external forms?
