Is there a way to one-time associate all CONTACTS with their COMPANY owner?

I have a relatively new Hubspot installation, but had a number of people involved in loading contacts and companies. Today, I have several thousand COMPANY records that each have an accurate owner, but the CONTACT under each company are incorrectly set.  I have switched on the SYNC option for future CONTACT additions, but is there a way to update the CONTACT OWNER one-time in bulk to match the COMPANY owner?

Hi @markharris2000,

A simple workflow like the one shown below will reliably copy the company owner into all associated contacts and overwrite any existing values:

1. Create workflow
2. Skip trigger and choose eligible records → Company → Save and continue
3. Trigger enrollment for companies → When filter criteria is met → Company information → Company owner is known
4. Use 'Edit record' workflow action

If you clear out the owner property so it's a null value, the sync will backfill whomever is Company Owner to the Contact Owner. Try it with a couple and once you're confident, you can bulk clear that property on the Contact index page.

This sounds like a great and less-obvious pro-tip. I have cleared the CONTACT OWNER for all 10 of the CONTACTS asscoated with one COMPANY and will wait overnight to see if the sync backfills the owner to match the owner of the COMPANY.

Update:  After waiting overnight, it does not appear that Contacts which previously had an owner, which I then cleared to No-Owner, did any kind of backfill.  New contacts are properly set (SYNC is now turned on), but existing records did NOT update their owner.
