Good practice for getting webinar attendees to subscribe to a Subscription Type?
SOLVE
Hi,
I'm looking for a good practice for getting webinar attendees to subscribe to a Subscription Type when filling a Form.
So far, we've just had an optional consent checkbox for communications with 'Webinars and Events' as a Subscription Type, with the consent text saying that the webinar attendees give consent to "receive information about our webinars and events". However, this has resulted in the issue that sometimes customers don't fill in that checkbox as it's optional and they don't necessarily want to receive communications regarding all of our events. However, when marketing sends out reminders for the webinar the customers want to attend, they use the 'Webinars and Events' Subscription Type. And in this case, the customers (would like to but) don't receive these reminders because they're not subscribed to that Subscription Type.
So my question is that how should we organize our Subscription Types/Consent checkboxes in our Forms to:
1) get webinar attendees to receive their reminders regarding a particular event
2) get webinar attendees to subscribe to the 'Webinars and Events' Subscription Type
3) get webinar attendees to subscribe to our other marketing related communications?
Numbers 2 and 3 are easy using Consent checkboxes but I can't figure out what to do with number 1.
I would recommend marking the subscription type you use for the email as mandatory on the event form. If someone skips the consent box, they cannot submit the form. This way you can be sure that everyone who signs up actually receives the necessary emails.
How do you register customers for the events you organize? You could choose to use a (hidden) field with the event name here, so that you know what someone has registered for. Based on that, you can also create the mailing lists for your emails.
With regard to the consent checkboxes, I have noticed that an attractive text often works well. For example: "Be the first to be invited to our events about the products you use"
Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions!
To register customers for the events we create a Form in HubSpot specifically for an event and direct customers to fill in the form. Then we create a List based on the customers who have filled in the Form. The issue here is that some of the customers on that List may have skipped the consent box and not get a Subscription Type, dropping them out from any email lists related to the event. I would understand the same thing would happen even if we had a hidden field on the Form? I.e. we would know which event the customer is attending but still wouldn't have a guarantee that they are subscribed to a Subscription Type, through which they would get their event-related emails.

That sounds like the best to go. I'm slightly worried about gating our webinars behind a mandatory subscription to our marketing communications but I guess we'll just have to see how this plays out.
