We have launched our very first campaign 2 weeks ago. The form on the landing page has generated a list of contacts (automatically created as marketing contacts as per form settings).
By default all new contacts are assigned to myself (marketing).
I am wondering what is the best practice for managing new contacts that are created and that, in my opinion, will not bring much value to the business. For sure they should be unflagged as marketing. What's next? Should they be removed? Or that would affect campaign stats?
Deleting these contacts will indeed affect campaign stats, I wouldn't recommend that. You can collect up to a million non-marketing contacts in the CRM and they're doing no harm just sitting around.
If you don't want them to count toward your billable contact total, you can set these contacts as non-marketing as explained here. I'd also recommend updating the Lifecycle stage to Other and the Lead status to a custom value that signals that you don't expect much from this contact.
By doing this, you can now easily exclude this contact from other activities (by filtering for Lifecycle stage and Lead status). However, you could still access the contact records should you decide to re-engage them in the future.
Hope this helps!
