Form Labels & Property Name

SOLVE

Are form labels and contact properties directly linked? For many of our forms, they have labels written in the form of a question, then the property name is the same long question. If I simplify the name of a property, I am hoping that it won't change the way the question was posed on the form. Is that true?

Form Labels & Property Name

SOLVE

Hi @alexagatiss,

If you change a property name in the property settings, that change should also reflect in all forms. Or in other words, if your form label is "What products are you interested in?" and you rename the property label in the property settings to "Product interest", the form label would change to "Product interest".

However, if you now change the form label back to "What products are you interestd in?", there isn't any conflict. The property label in the settings remains "Product interest".

(This is what most HubSpot admins do. At the time of the creation find a naming that follows the naming convention and is concise, in the form rename it to whatever is presentable and understandable to the target group.)

The same goes for property value options, in a dropdown for example. If you add an option in the settings, it will be added in all forms that reference the property. In the forms themselves, you can make changes to labels and options which are only cosmetic and only affect the form you're currently working on.

Whether you want to go the route of renaming the properties depends on how many forms reference them. You can always see how often a property is used in the property settings.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
