Exclude 'accounts.google.com' from showing as source

SOLVE

Hi All,
Maybe an easy question, but we have a web-app with Google SSO, so a number of our contacts show 'accounts.google.com' as their latest or original source in the CRM.

Is there a way to exclude this as a source similar to what you'd do in GA4?

My goal is to have the actual source -- i.e., how they got to our site and the log-in page (e.g., Organic, Paid Search, Paid Social) etc., show instead of accounts.google.com.

TY so much!

Hi @NCorliss

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

The best way to avoid this situation is by adjusting how tracking is conducted.

As per the information in this Knowledge Base article, HubSpot tracks visitors through their cookies. Therefore, in order for us to determine the specific page visited before a form submission, we will require the contact record to give consent for tracking (i.e., they must agree to the cookie tracking).

I suggest setting up a cookie banner on your external website to allow visitors to agree to cookie tracking. Without this consent, our tracking will commence only after the form submission.

Please note that the cookie banner is not mandatory, as we cannot enforce tracking, especially if you are operating within the EU, where regulations prohibit this practice.

Hence, if a visitor opts out of accepting cookies, we won't be able to proceed with tracking in that scenario.

Hope this helps clarify,

Diana
