Email Newsletter Pop Up Off Blog, Immediate drop in traffic

Hi - We added a few exit intent popups to a clients website late last week, on one main page of their site and a couple high traffic, low conversion blog pages. Nothing overwhelming, very typical, using best practices. Since that day, we have seen an immediate and severe drop off in traffic across the whole site. Is it possible the search engines could penalize the site that quickly? We have never used them before? What is the latest updates on using these newsletter popups?

@JorieMunroe@Phil_Vallender have you worked with customers with a similar experience before?

Hi @juliejoyce,

Great question! What type of callout were you implementing on the lead flows implemented on your client's sites? Could you link us to an example? Happy to look into this further.

Best,

Jorie

Hi @juliejoyce,

Interested to know if this behavior has been confirmed, or was not related to Lead Flows.

Best,

Hi,

I am curious about the result of this discussion. Do exit intent pop-ups have a bad impact on website traffic or SEO penalize us because of these pop-ups?

Thank you,
