Distinguishing between Website Forms and Google Ads Lead Forms

SOLVE

We are newer to Hubspot and I noticed that we can connect Hubspot and Google Ads Lead forms. Previously, I was using Zapier to send GA Lead Forms to a company email. Now, hubspot is sync'd with it but it still just comes in labeled as a form. Is it possible to call this something more descriptive like "Google Ad Lead Form" as the Record Source?

Distinguishing between Website Forms and Google Ads Lead Forms

SOLVE

Hi! @whistlerSign,

Welcome to HubSpot!

If properly set up, Google Ads Lead Form submissions should appear in the Record Source Detail 1 field, as this field typically displays the integration or specific source that brought the data into HubSpot.

Here's how you can confirm and ensure it works:

  1. Check Integration Settings:

    • When syncing Google Ads Lead Forms with HubSpot, make sure the integration correctly maps the lead form data into HubSpot.
    • HubSpot's integration with Google Ads includes metadata like the campaign or ad source, which can be reflected in the Record Source Detail fields.
  2. Test a Submission:

    • Submit a test lead through your Google Ads Lead Form.
    • Go to the contact record in HubSpot and inspect the "Record Source Detail 1" field to confirm whether it shows details like "Google Ads Lead Form."
  3. Custom Workflows for Naming:

    • If it doesn't display the way you expect, you can use a HubSpot workflow to check if the lead comes from Google Ads and then update the Record Source Detail 1 field with a custom value like "Google Ad Lead Form."

  2. Test a Submission:

    • Submit a test lead through your Google Ads Lead Form.
    • Go to the contact record in HubSpot and inspect the "Record Source Detail 1" field to confirm whether it shows details like "Google Ads Lead Form."

Notes:

  • If a record was created from a form submission, the source information would be:
    • Record Source: Forms.
    • Record Source Detail 1: the name of the form.

Thank you for the help! Although the data that goes into Record Source Detail 1 was just the ad's headline, that still helps me a lot.

@WesQ if you're generating answers with AI – which, if you did, would violate community guidelines if you didn't include a disclaimer –, make sure they don't include factually incorrect information. It is not possible to update the Record source detail 1 via workflow.

Good day! @karstenkoehler,

Thank you for reviewing my solution.  To be honest the problem was actually also new to me, so I spent an hour also finding a solution and I was glad I found one.

I have posted another reply to correct my proposed solution and attached the references I have used to find that solution.

I hope I can continue contributing to HubSpot's community as I am continuously learning as well.

So, were you able to see the data you needed in Record Source Detail 1?

I was able to kind of see it. I replied to your OP, but I'm wondering now if I can change the Key in the Google Lead Form to something more descriptive... just a matter of finding where that key maps to within Hubspot. Still looking but you got me a whole lot closer than I was the other day. Thanks again.
