Hi there, I have a problem with a contact override issue. We have a Hubspot form on our website where we just want to be able to track the source, original and latest. We do not want that the form updates a contact. So, I have deselected the 'Allow tracked events to update contact properties'. So, I believe that this should not overwrite the contact properties. However, when I fill in my form, it does overwrite the email address. I believe this is caused by the cookies that re-direct me to the existing contacts and update the email property.
The reason that I am asking is that we have a lot of customers coming back and asking to download a pricelist, but are filling in different data than we have in the back-end (maybe due to autofill).
Does someone know how can I prevent this? I do not want to update any property but want to understand the attribution (so the latest/original) source.
Hi @TJelsma. HubSpot forms are indeed meant to update the properties you're asking about on the form. I'm not aware of any way to have them not update the properties you're asking for on the form. One thing you could do for the emails is to turn on the option "always create contact for new email address" so it doesn't override anything on a current contact. But that will indeed create new contacts if someone comes to the form with a different email on the same IP address.
I guess I'm not fully grasping why, if you're asking for information on a form, you don't want to accept that data. If I fill out your form with a new email, is it an email I want you to have? As the HubSpot user, you can see my old email still in the property history. You'll just have my current email I've given you.
Curious if anyone else has ideas.
