Automatic Subscription to Blog via CTA

SOLVE

Hello everyone,

Our company is struggling to gain new blog subscribers, despite using a subscription form on our blog pages and pop-up form as well. One thing we noticed was that we have a lot of our CRM list receiving our monthly newsletter, but very few of them are actively subscribed to our weekly blog posts. We had an idea to feature a CTA in our newsletter that contacts could click to subscribe to weekly blog updates.

However, it feels unintuitive to have them click the CTA, go to a landing page, and fill in info we already have from them (ex. email address). We've had contacts click the CTA in the newsletter, but none have filled out the form.

Is there any way to have a simple "opt-in" styled CTA where they can click a subscribe button and be instantly added to a blog subscriber list?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You could have the CTA point to a thank you page and enroll everyone who clicks the CTA through a workflow that subscribes them to your blog.

However, to your question about getting more active people following your blog, if people are subscribed to your newsletter, and hypothetically, if your newsletter contains blog articles,  what do they gain from getting this email?  It's a larger strategy discussion to have, but the short of it is, people read information from various sources, social, blog, email, etc. Being where your audience is at, is a more important measure than necessarily worrying about blog email subscribers.  What I would recommend to someone in your shoes is to first, evaluate your traffic to your blog.  Look at things like time on page and bounce rate.  Use that to tailor your content.  Then make sure you are exposing your blog, not only on your website but other channels.  Lastly, look to build a more comprehensive measurement of your blog exposure and performance by looking at all channels that drive engagement.

That is definitely some excellent advice. Yes, our newsletter is promoting our 2 top-performing blogs of the month. So I do agree with you that there isn't much to gain from having these newsletter recipients receive the weekly blog emails since it's basically more of what they already have.

Since some contacts were clicking the "subscribe to blog" CTA in the newsletter email, it at least shows that perhaps a few people would be interested in a weekly blog post update. Though our priority should be more on analyzing who is currently receiving our newsletter, who's opening/clicking, time spent reading, bounces, etc.

Thanks again for the help! Sometimes it takes hearing some insight from someone else to realize an initial idea might not be the most logical.
