The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan charged with continuing his legacy and sharing his principles - individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy and national pride. The Foundation is a non-partisan organization which sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion, the award-winning Discovery Center and the Reagan Institute, which carries out the Foundation’s mission in Washington, D.C.  The Reagan Library houses over 55 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers and over 60,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Position Available

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is seeking a part-time employee (28 hours per week with 1-3 years’ experience) to assist with marketing and video production, as well as to manage the Foundation’s social media accounts. On a weekly basis, responsibilities include assisting the Digital Communications Producer with video projects relating to social media (our Monday Minute podcast, our Thursday Throwback podcast, livestreaming events, and more.)  The Social Media Video Producer will also be responsible for gathering, maintaining and creating content for posting on the Reagan Foundation’s social media sites, which includes archival research, campus photos, and tracking current social media trends. This is a position that will require energy, creativity, and an ability to manage multiple projects that range across different platforms and purposes. The successful candidate would be willing to roll up his/her sleeves to do the work in support of the team.  He/she needs to be enthusiastic, energetic and a reliable self-starter.  He/she should be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, both individually and in a group dynamic with the rest of the creative team. He/she should be able to come to the table with ideas and tactics to grow the Foundation’s subscriber base and page engagement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write/update/schedule/maintain Reagan Foundation social media pages; including staying active by interacting and engaging with our following on various social media outlets.
  • Assist with video production, video editing and photography of assigned projects while conforming to elements required within the established brand identity, for all podcasts (Monday Minute, Thursday Throwback, Reagan and Friends, Reagan Retrospective, Inside the Reagan Library, Behind the Scenes).
  • Take ownership of Reagan Foundation Instagram Reels and Stories (research and create content; monitor engagement; brainstorm ideas; film and edit pieces together)
  • Take ownership of the Foundation’s YouTube Channel; add Table of Contents to all videos, and create “Best Of” videos.
  • Assist with livestream events that require some evenings and weekends.
  • Assist with duties and projects assigned to Digital Communications Producer.
  • Research and organize historical photos.
  • Participate in Foundation events – held occasionally on evenings, weekends and holidays – including the annual Reagan National Defense Forum (at the end of November/first weekend of December), in support of the Foundation’s mission, as needed.

Skills and Requirements

  • 1-2 years of work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with photography and videography.
  • Knowledge and experience with social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube – and how to grow those platforms.
  • Must be able to tell compelling stories by researching from our photo/video database and researching files from the internet.
  • Must have experience editing short-form video content.
  • Must be an “outside the box” thinker and go the extra mile when editing/filming.
  • Must be willing to learn new software and filming techniques..
  • Knowledge of operating DSLR and Mirrorless cameras (Sony A7s, Panasonic GH4, and/or Canon DSLRs), lighting equipment and audio recording.
  • Must have knowledge of different video codecs, frame rates, and aspect ratios.
  • Understanding of the latest trends and social media features in order to maintain relevancy in digital platforms a plus.
  • Must show initiative and come up with new ideas that will increase engagement and follower base on social media platforms.
  • Upload podcasts and videos to our foundation website on a weekly-basis.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Hootsuite and other social media sites.
  • Excellent knowledge of common industry applications [i.e. Final Cut X and Motion (Mac OS), DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Create Suite, PhotoShop and After Effects]
  • Adhere to branding guidelines in order to create cohesive designs. 
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of decision-makers.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to bend, kneel and crouch, as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays for special events.
  • Work and time management skills, including flexibility, punctuality, reliability, and adaptability.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Initiative, integrity, flexibility and stress tolerance are essential.
  • Must be able to take constructive criticism.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
