Which research methods have helped you curate your buyer persona?

In my experience, I noticed that surveys and social media listening have helped me collect a good amount of information and they proved to be the most successful in contrast to other methods.

I believe the best research methods to help create buyer personas are Surveys and questionnaires. These surveys help by collecting data directly from the target audience through surveys and questionnaires can provide valuable insights into their demographics, pain points, needs, and behavior patterns.

Which research methods have helped you curate your buyer persona?

Hello,

In case you start up a brand new business, how would you find the right research methods, and once you have them, from which database would you do the interviews?
I would like to have some ideas on which research method would be more suitable when you do not have any traffic on your business as yet.

Thank you!

I would start by identifying your buyer(s), understanding demographics, conducting secondary research via online search and available secondary studies (research).  Once you understand who buys from your direct competitors, look for them and conduct some interviews.  You can then run the same research via a larger database in Survey Monkey or other digital research Platform.   In other words - qualitative research with personal interviews.  Repeat through digital research to confirm your findings using a larger database.

I can totally relate to youe comment! My buyer persona is C level exec of a company 11-50 people... They hang on Linked In but I really can not imagine myself contacting them and asking to talk to me? I was thinking about offline events eg conferences where they are more intended to network...

Which research methods have helped you curate your buyer persona?

I have tried this in the past using social media and have had little to no success. On the other hand, I am paying attention to my current clients to see their needs and frustrations. I'm learning a lot from that, but I will get a lot more insights as I build a larger client base. Which comes first? The chicken or the egg? The clients or the buyer personas?

As a new entrant into the market, I intend to start with social media marketing as I progress, more focus will be on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

In my experience, researching demographic statistics and their behaviours on social media had given me insight on which platforms they favour, which devices they frequent, their search habits and buyer trends.

In my previous job: counselling services, we used google forms for public. For corporate clients, we used data from sales team, customer services and also follow up calls.

Looking at LinkedIn and other platforms has helped me learn about buyer persona's. Also from what I have read, conducting face-to-face interviews will help to understand the reasons behind a buyer. This can lead to helping understand your target market.

Personal interview with the customers, surveys and socail media research on potential customer.

Interview with customer usually the best. while working on getting customers for your business, surveys and social media research could help.

In my experience social media especially LinkedIn and meta are very useful to create buyer personas. But one to one interview with customers and prospect buyers is the best.

Well, I had to segment the value proposition based on market research, because I'm in a discovery phase so I don't have any customers or data yet. I think I will use interviews with people who are in the segment and collect data to create and profit from the buyer persona. In my opinion you have left aside this hypothesis and considered that we already have the customers and all, but this is not always the case.
