Which of the five fundamental steps is most challenging for you?
1 and 3 would be the most difficult in my mind:
1 - Especially when you're on a budget, it can be hard to pinpoint which interactions are best to track. There's more flexibility in this phase, but the choices can't be random.
3 - Analyzing and segmenting data can be difficult since there are so many variables. Figuring out how to segment so much data into digestible categories is not easy.

I would say Step 1
Defining the interactions you want to track. If that is not defined correctly, then it will add no value analysing the data and will make no impact on the objectives.

For me, the most challenging stage is
Analyzing and reporting how people are behaving on your websiteYou can't actually assume right or understand correctly. I think heat maps will help me to understand the customer behavior

Which of these five fundamental steps is most challenging for you?
I think what is most challenging is step 3, analyzing and reporting how people are behaving on the website. I see that people like the posts I have written on social media, but I am wondering if I can gauge if they signed up and clicked the call-to-action website links linked in the social media post and then actually signed up for the service and product we were offering (this case being a book club). It is something I am trying to learn, namely, howto track their behaviors after the initial "Like" on the social media profile mentioned above.

I guess since I am just getting started and am not sure what questions to even ask, I'm going to have to say I am having trouble with just the first fundamental step, defining interactions I want to track. I don't really get a whole lot of traffic to my new website yet, so while I need to gather information on that process, I don't get enough information to provide reliable data. Moving backwards and stepping outside of my website, what tactics are working to get them there? My intent is to focus on my social media and blog posts to increase traffic, so I think maybe I should start there. Which posts on both fronts are creating my desired outcome?
Which of the five fundamental steps is most challenging for you?
All steps are challenging in some way or another, especially for beginners. But I find the last phase of using your segmentation to nurture more complex.
Which of the five fundamental steps is most challenging for you?
Weird, it seems I'm one of the only ones who has trouble with #4: Use the data to segment. Segmenting seems easy on its face, but I think I'd tend to over-segment. Basically, divide users up into groups that are far too specific, trying to be relevant. Then ending up with too many segments, which becomes overwhelming when it's time to nurture.
