Which attribution model works best for your business?
One of the most common questions marketers ask when getting started on attribution reporting is which model they should use?
The answer depends on the goals of your team and the supporting analysis that’s expected of you. The important thing to remember is that there isn’t a one size fits all for attribution reporting: when in doubt use multiple models.

I work in retail and the time decay model seems to work best. Many of our products such as groceries go bad after a while. Also seasonal items are put on clearance after a holiday such as Halloween or Christmas is over. Sales or promotions depend on the time of year, type of merchandise, supply, or demand.

My tech company is newly entering a new market. And we want to know whether our content or marketing strategy works well in the new market. So we use the first-touch model.

I didn't really understand the different attribution models until now, but first touch, linear and full path are first on my list to implement in my reporting on specific channels and efforts.

I haven't used attribution reporting before, but this is a great way to know which marketing strategies generate new leads for the company. As an e-commerce owner, I would be interested in the last touch attribution report to learn what triggered the customer to finalize the purchase. The Full Path attribution seems to be a great way to have more insight into the most important interactions and dont leave smaller ones to the side as they also have their roles in your customer purchase process.

I haven't used attribution reports yet. But I look forward to getting started so I can identify which marketing strategy works best for a specific type of person. We actually have not been up to this point which is why hubspot is our new favorite thing so learning all of this we have yet to jump right in. If I had to give what we've been doing a name I'd say the attribute we cared about was leads generated or phone calls made inbound. Those were our metrics now that we're educating oiurselves we work harder find the right model.

I haven't started with attribution but as a digital marketing agency, I would expect that linear would be the expected model to use since each client is different and we need to understand and optimize for their specific wants/needs. They are involved in each step and the process would take the direction that they feel most comfortable with.

In our business, we've mainly relied on some basic first touch attribution in our AB testing. However, we will start getting into linear attribution because we have a ton of content that we need to understand the success of. Eventually, we'd like to get into more full-path attribution, as justifying the ROI of our marketing activities is always of interest to us and the rest of the company.

Well, as has been seen in the course, it depends a lot on the objectives of the business, but it could be said that it would be better to have the first-touch attribution, since this helps to give a better brand recognition and finally it could also be the full path attribution, which would be another of the best options.

Really depends on the goal of the project. When starting with many of our clients we have to look at a linear attribution to understad their past efforts. However, once we have been working with them we can use various models that depend on the goals--for example, a client that wants more traffic at an event will go with a time decay.
