What OKR are you focusing on?
Objectives and key results (also known as OKRs) is a goal-setting system that helps to ensure that the company focuses efforts on the same important issues throughout the organization. What is the main OKR you're focusing on right now?
*To learn more about this, check out the Setting Business Goals lesson via HubSpot Academy.
Imagine you stand in front of a mirror to see whether your overall look is on point. That mirror is your OKR.
Objective: the look you’re going for.
Key Results: the measurable checks that prove it (pressed shirt, polished shoes, colors matched, out the door by 8:00).
If it can’t be checked, it’s not a KR. If it doesn’t change the look, it doesn’t belong. Set 1 clear Objective, 3 sharp KRs, review weekly — that’s how you should track your organization’s results every day.
My main OKR for the next year is to help transform the one-person company I recently joined into a small, well-rounded team.
Right now, we mainly manage and monitor servers/NMS for a few Wireless Internet Service Providers around the world. But the bigger goal is to expand our focus, to not only handle the tech side but also start offering marketing services to small businesses, especially across the GCC, MENA, and Europe regions.
Producing podcasts is as simple a zoom call with a friend.
You just need your laptop, a friend on the other side of the zoom call, and some very basic video editing skills or a Video Editor/VA (virtual assistant) on a Fiverr or Upwork.
For practice purposes, you may also start the zoom calls with these VAs, and ask them to show you their whole process.
Start doing the same with your closest friends, once you are comfortable with it.
My husband and I started a business 3 years ago selling Damascus knives. We are in our late 50's and have no business experience and very little computer knowledge. We have come a long way in three years, but I know we can do so much better. I have created a website and we have more than doubled our profits. Most of our sales are still coming from my husband doing vendor shows, but I want most of our profits to come from online sales because he is getting older and traveling is taking its toll.
Objective: Increase online sales to $1000.00 per month by Jan. 01, 2026
1. Learn how to create workflows to increase awareness and sales
I'm working on OKR around growing my small business. right now i'm fousing on incresing online booking, getting more consistent weekly clients and improving client retention
I'm working on find a new job, so I've wrote out a loose version of OKRs to that end. There's lots of overlap between them. But I found this to be a super helpful exercise to help me outline my job searching strategy and plan (sticking to my mission/purpose of getting a job):
Get a job in < 5 months
Apply to jobs (including resume customizations, interview prep, following up, etc.)
Get certifications that prove my current experience (like the HubSpot certifications I'm work on now)
Create portfolio / website that shows my experience / creative work
Work on new skills and certifications to keep leveling up
Get a job that I like
Define what I want (within my constraints of skill, experience, and income required)
Align my story and experience to fit
Fill in any skill gaps with new skills and certifications (overlap with 1.4.)
Get a job in Pittsburgh, PA
Do stuff in Pittsburgh - get out and meet people and talk about my career when applicable
Network - utilize college alum and career services (NYU & UD) and others like (American Marketing Association) to find people in Pittsburgh
Go to job fairs and check out local job boards
Find friends of friends (or connections of old colleagues and co workers) in Pittsburgh
my main OkRs that I'm focussing now is to maintain 90% client satisfaction through survey feedback, and to also create and implement two new workflow for task efficiency.
Our main OKRs (local) right now include: Objective: Increase member satisfaction through running a safe, clean and positive environment in our site.
Key results: Log damages/errors promptly, ensure constant club level checks from staff, carry out daily/weekly deep cleans of our site, listen to member queries and complaints and act accordingly.
