A Lesson in Customer Care and Problem Solving

I wanted to share a little anecdote that got me thinking about how we approach problem-solving, both in life and in business.

So, the other day I wasn't feeling too hot and needed to pick up some medication prescribed by my aunt. The cost? A measly 3 cents. Easy enough, right? Well, here's where things got interesting.

As I walked into the pharmacy, looking like I'd seen better days, the cashier processed my request without much fuss. But then the pharmacist, who's usually not around, piped up. He wanted to know what was ailing me.

I explained that I had this stubborn fever that just wouldn't quit. Instead of just handing me the prescribed meds and sending me on my way, he took a moment to understand what was really going on. Long story short, he ended up prescribing some additional medication to tackle the root of the problem.

Now, here's the kicker: my bill went from 3 cents to 4 bucks. That's a whopping 13,133.33% increase! Crazy, right? But it got me thinking.

In business, we often get caught up in the numbers game, always trying to cut costs or compete on price. But this experience reminded me that true value isn't just about the price tag; it's about understanding and solving the real problems people face.

So, here's a little challenge for you all: next time you're working on a project or pitching a product, take a step back and ask yourself, "What problem am I really trying to solve here?"

thank you for being this to lighti once had this same experience but couldn't really understand why I ended up paying for the highest price

but reading your text and also with the help of this course I've come to realize it was because of the way the individual helped solve the problem with ease that made me pay that price
