Hi all,
First off a HUGE thank you for kicking out great content/discussions. I am a big fan of the software but I have a big problem moving forward. How does a marketer like me convince two, grizzled sales veterans (who already hate CRMs) to see the benefits of using Hubspot in favor of Salesforce when it comes to prospecting. It seems to be a reoccurring theme, "if it's not in Salesforce then it didn't happen (or it's meaningless)." Any tips, tricks, or methods to help the marketing / sales alignment?

Hi Brandon,

I am sure the HubSpot team will have a better answer, in the meantime, it it helps, perhaps you have seen it already, but with tight budgets showing them the difference in price between Salesforce and HubSpot (Enterprise) might help.  If they still do not want to switch from Salesforce, there might be several reasons, HubSpot and SF have an integration

I have used both and if it is usability the key, HubSpot is at least one order of magnitude easier.

Best wishes,

Pam

Thanks Pam!

I think I should have been clearer in my earlier post. I meant to ask how to get "tried-and-true Salesforce Sales users" to adopt some of the Hubspot methodologies. Especially focused around some of Hubspot's prospecting tools (sequences, lead scoring, lifecycle stages, lead status, etc.). I know education is the answer but at some point, Sales needs to temporarily set down the "I should only focus on selling mantra" and invest some time in learning the process. That last part is something I keep running into.  My apologies if this isn't the right topic for tomorrow's conversation - I just respect the **bleep** out of both Jolie and Justin's Hubspot knowledge!  🙂

Hi,  I'm in the middle of the Hubspot Academy Content Marketing Certification Course.  Would you know when this course was published and how relevant it is today?  The presenters often mention dates around 2015 and before 2020 therefore I am questioning if the material is stale and I should find an updated course?  Thank you,

Hi @Beate. Great question. I launched the third version of the Content Marketing Certification Course at the end of 2019. The content is mainly evergreen, meaning the strategies discussed are still applicable to creating a strategy today.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Hello Jenny,

thank you, looking forward to it.

Thank you for asking about questions, for the moment, I have tried to register via the link from Jorie's post but it brings me to a page in my account (there is a beta in the URL) where it shows leads and sessions and not a booking page. Not sure if it is happening only for me, I am on Chrome, Win 10.

Thanks again

Hi @PamelaM! Thank you for the feedback! The events page is hosted on our sister platform, which may require you to accept separate permissions. That is likely why you are being sent to the accounts dashboard vs. directly to the page. Once you click through the permissions, you should be directed to this URL: https://events.hubspot.com/events/details/hubspot-hubspot-academy-presents-marketing-hub-office-hour... where you can register for the event. 🙂

Let me know if you have any issues registering with that link.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Jenny,

Thank you very much, the second link works but when I click to register it redirects me back to that account page without any possibility to click to give permissions. It must just be that our IT has blocked something I will contact them. Thank you so much for helping.

Best regards,

Pam

I'm having the same problem. I'm running chrome on MacOS and I don't think our IT is blocking anything here. I would love to be able to register for this event so hopefully there will be a solution.

Great question @jennysowyrda!

I'd recommend the HubSpot Marketing Software Certification (of course) and then, depending on the tier of the user, a quick follow up with the Marketing Made Easy with HubSpot Enterprise to get a sense of some additional enterprise features (like Behavioral Events 😍).

CMS for Marketers also would be helpful if this user was also in charge of managing their organization's website or blog. From there, I would say it would depend on whether the new user was a generalist or a specialist.

After the Inbound or Inbound Marketing certs, which cover important foundational knowledge, I would recommend diving into the Content Marketing (all marketers should take this one), Social Media Marketing, Email, or Advertising certifications. These can help users move from understanding key marketing concepts to actually applying them in their day-to-day roles.

Then they could get niche with Contextual Marketing (think: smart content) or Reporting (this is cross-hub and covers both tools and strategy).

So, too long didn't read? It depends on the software they need to master and the skills they're expected to know.

Overall, when thinking about which approach to take with HubSpot Academy education, I'd really encourage everyone to think in terms of the T-Shaped Marketer. Which certs/courses/lessons are going to give you the strongest initial foundation? And then, which ones will help you master the channel expertise expected in your role? There's a bunch of different orders you could take. When in doubt, you could also take the most comprehensive approach and take the Digital Marketing Strategy Learning Path.

Thank you for starting this conversation @JorieMunroe!

I want to tag in some group members who may have questions on this topic:

@ALimone@MartinWilliams@jomurthuile@SLoPresti@CReid1@AprilStevens@AmandaPofahl@Abelmogy@CPatenaude@Jwyoung do you have any questions for around HubSpot Marketing that you'd like answered by the Academy team?

@JorieMunroe, one question I have to kick things off: if I were creating a 30 day plan for a new Marketing Software user, what Academy courses would you recommend I have them take, and what are the "must dos" inside the tool to understand the Marketing Software?
