We need a way to pre-set the value of a property field. I am constantly creating new Contacts where 85% of the time, the values of several properties are always the same. For example, I have a property called HaveX that should almost always be a value of 'yes', but I cannot set the default value of this (and other properties).
Hubspot Support response:
It is not currently possible to set a default value for properties within your account, as we don't have the ability to force a property to always have a value. However, you can set a default value for a property in forms by checking the "Pre Select" box next to an option in the form editor. You also have the option to create a workflow to automatically update records that don't have a value for the property in question.
my response >> I know about setting workflows and forms, but neither would fit this need. Can I ask for this to be considered for future development?
* Text (single line, multi, rich) fields - should enable default text * Checkbox (single, multi, radio, dropdown) fields - need to support a default value * Number fields - need to support a default value Version 2.0:
* Date pickers with relative offsets as default values (Hubspot is very weak with date math), e.g. * Default = today() + 31 * Default for this property = value of another property +/- offset, use case example, the default value for Year 1 Contract Start Date = Close Date + 30 days
This is a very basic feature that is essential to effectiveness when entering data. How is this not supported in 2024? Re-filling 95% constant fields (with occasional variety) is definitely going to be a huge unnecessary time consumer in our sales department. Please implement support for this, it's something everyone should have out of the box.
Here to express that I, with everyone else above, sorely need this very basic feature. It's shocking to me that this feature request has existed since 1/2020 and has almost 100 comments but still has not been implemented.
Is this on the product roadmap? Could we get an update that @hubspot is aware of this feature request? I should not have to create and maintain a workflow for such a basic feature. Allow us to define a default to any property on any object such that if nobody fills it out - there is still a value.
Could this be done you've had it on the list for years? Especially as calculated properties need at least a 0 to work. Surely this is basic functionality set a default value on numeric properties or dropdowns?
When 95% of the contacts (or any object) require the same option, but 5% require something different, how amazing would it be if you could just... you know... set a default option for the 95%? In 2024. I know Conditional Logic can be used to only show certain fields when other fields match certain conditions, which can be made to achieve something similar, but it's much much less than ideal.
Honestly, it's surprising that this isn't already available considering how many basic tools (e.g., ManyChat, ActiveCampaign, etc.) offer it for a fraction of the cost. Instead of focusing so heavily on advanced AI features, it might be time to prioritize features like this that users really need. Just my two cents!
Don't be silly....! HubSpot listen to customers - not a chance- they'd rather risk losing your custom than develop something requested by a community of existing customers, which is not only easy to implement but which also makes complete sense, and is value add and in-line with competitor offerings.
