Hello, Our company transitioned to HubSpot in May 2022 after using an existing database for 25+ years. We imported over 500,000 companies with over 1 million contacts. Some of those 1 million contacts don't have email addresses associated with their first/last name. The HubSpot email sales plugin is a great feature to track emails to customers, see opens, clicks, etc. Since we are a customer transitioning to HubSpot from a previous CRM, while using the email plugin to track emails, if a customer didn't previously have their email address listed and was not present during our import and then a Sales Rep emails the customer because they had previously, or obtained the email address, in our case we would prefer to NOT have HubSpot create a new contact that is 'the email address' vs a message that could populate saying something like, "You just emailed this contact but their email address is not saved. Please update the 'email address property' for this contact." We end up having an existing contact that was imported during our transition, then we end up having a contact created off an email address but it is incomplete and causes confusion with our Sales Reps while we are all new to the software. More controls around this feature would be helpful for our use case.
