It would be great if there was a way to label the contacts that are associated with the deal when the deal gets created. Or at the very least, be able to flag which contact was attributed to the deal being created in the first place. Being a SaaS company, multiple contacts are often required in the sales cycle. It wouldn't always be the first person contact that was associated with the deal, because the rep will associate more than one contact with the deal when it's created. It also isn't always the first contact that was reached out to / created or first to respond back (their first response could have been no thanks, not right now.) Knowing which contact (and then where that contact came from) would help with tracking opportunities. I do understand that the rep could go back in after the deal has been created and associate the label to that contact, however, they are less inclined to do that - either from it being an extra step or simply forgetting to do it. If it was part of the deal creation process, it could be required.
