Hi all. Unfortunately, the Hubspot Community currently exposes your email address on your profile to the entire community, and anyone in the world can join this commmunity and trace back your personal indentity from this. There is no way to fix this, because Hubspot requires all users to display their email address publicly if one wants to continue using the Hubspot Community. Please consider these points to understand why users should have the right to privacy. When you join Hubspot Community, you are joining a group of unknown entities. - Hubspot Community has 10,000+ members. - Entering the Hubspot Community is as easy as signing up for a Free Starter Account. Anyone in the world can slip in amongst the 10,000. I have confirmed that the community is available to users of all package levels with Hubspot Support. - These members are globally dispersed. - By viewing your email, these people can then discover the company you work for, and thereby the physical address of your work location. Anyone in the world can discover your office address from this community. - While I believe the community is healthy and has not been abused to this point, the loophole is there. - This is not about whether that abuse is likely to happen. It is about giving individuals the right to match their safety settings to the level of security they would like to choose. It is about control over personal information. - Nobody enjoyed it when Facebook exposed user information in the Cambridge Analytica scandle for the purpose of growing their community. While far less egregious, the same principles apply here. Hubspot opens up the community to free users, who can be any malicious organization posing as a company, in the name of their growth. If Hubspot would like to pursue growth in that manner, they should balance it by giving their users control over our privacy, since we cannot control the entities that enter this community. I believe users should hold the choice of privacy for themselves, and that Hubspot should not decide for us. Can Hubspot please make displaying these emails, to the entire community, optional?
