When using a workflow (WF) to copy a property from a company to its contact(s) it doesn't apply specifically to the contact that triggered the WF, but to ALL the contacts associated with the company. This is only a problem when some contacts may have different properties than others. For example, we sell to a company that is mostly in our Upper Midwest (UM) sales territory, but they're expanding. A few of their employees now exist in our Lower Midwest (LM) sales territory. We would want all their contacts' sales territory fields to default to UM unless otherwise specified. A WF copying the sales territory triggers off the company's newly associated contacts. Every time the criterion is met, all associated contacts are enrolled in the WF and assigned to the UM territory, regardless of previous WF enrollment or current property values. There is no way to direct the WF to act upon the specific contact triggering it and not all associated contacts. So if some of the old contacts had the sales territory, LM, this property would be overwritten once a new contact is associated with their company and triggers the workflow. Note: I would assume the use of parent companies would be a workaround, but for my purposes, I cannot use parent companies here. Here's an example of a WF:
