It should be easy to report on overall Email Open, Click-through, and Unsub rates over time and break that down further for analysis by say content, campaign, or subscription type. But there's no way to accomplish this with HubSpot's current tools or by building your own custom report. This is happening for two main reasons: - Failure to allow us to merge old campaigns together - Failure to allow us to filter by email subscription type in most all reports. HubSpot provides a lot of fancy bells and whistles with the Marketing Email Analyze Tab and Health Beta Tab, but ultimately misses the basic points of how email marketers analyze data. Breaking this down further.... Email Analyze Tab On the analyze tab, HubSpot includes an Email data Chart that tracks overall Open Rates and Click-through rates over time for all emails ever sent. Email Analyze tab - Performance over time It even allows you to export this into a report for your Dashboard. Great right?! Think again. Now that you know your overall open and click rates, you may want to know which emails are impacting your overall metrics (positively or negatively). That way you can actually do something with this data. But the tab only provides these 3 filtering methods: Current Filters for Email Analyze tab Filter by Campaign -- Great! But wait..... what if a member of my team accidentally attributed an email to the wrong campaign or we made multiple campaigns over time? HubSpot doesn't allow you to switch campaigns on already published emails without losing all your data and it also doesn't allow you to merge campaigns. So a single mistake can permanently mess up your reporting data with this method. Filter by Teams -- This has nothing to do with sending emails. Teams are about Admin permissions and organizations change over time. Filter by Email Type -- Allows you to filter for automated emails, regular emails, follow-ups, etc. Great in theory, but way too detailed. At this point, I can't even tell which email subscription type or campaign is doing well, so scoping down to this micro-level doesn't help much. Email Health Beta Tab This is a new HubSpot feature with the following available filters on it: Email Health Beta Filters It's great that you can now filter something simple like Email Subscription type. But it's difficult to see key metrics over time from there. The center of this report is a chart where HubSpot tells you whether or not it thinks your emailing over time is On track, Work to be done, or Action needed. Email Beta Health Chart When you go to investigate the metrics for why your health score is "work to be done", the report is honestly not that helpful. You can only drop down separate charts for Open rates, click-through rates, etc. But there's no way to view them all in one chart. So you again can't see the big picture or pinpoint where you need to improve in comparison to your historical data. I want to be able to view opens, clicks, unsubscribes, etc all in one place, over time, and by campaign or subscription type.
